Meet Jamey Krebs

Jamey Krebs Artist River House GalleryJamey is an award-winning artist of water and landscape scenes featuring boats, waterfowl, and even bee hives! Jamey has mainly been self-taught and explains her love for art began at home upon receiving her very own 64-count crayon box.

The dream of being a professional artist was delayed, and never forgotten. Jamey had been drawing since she was 4 years old with guidance from her talented mother. During high school, she attended art classes throughout high school. Upon telling her parents she wanted to pursue Art she was given life advice on what might be a better choice and college did not include art classes. After 2 years of college, she joined the Army as a Military Police Investigator which she did for 6 years. Upon leaving the military she used her G.I. Bill to return to college and went into the medical field. This would not be a long-term career; she began working in Property Management. She successfully completed a 32-year career as both a Property and Regional Manager. Finally, upon retiring, she would make her dream a reality. This occurred upon moving, with her husband, to Chestertown in 2020.

Jamey Krebs Painting at River House GalleryHer favorite medium quickly became oil and she discovered her enjoyment of Plein Air painting along with working in her studio.  Many of her pieces are inspired by the local scenes from both Kent and Queen Anne’s County; Turners Creek, Sassafras, Chester River, Chestertown, and the surrounding locale. Her style has been described as realistic and very detailed with an almost photographic feel. In her first year of painting, she completed 16 commissioned pieces including portraits, became a regular and featured artist at Tish Fine Art Plus Gallery, and is currently an active member of Chestertown RiverArts, Cecil County Art League, and Ocean City Art League. Her paintings hang in homes both locally and throughout the US.

Jamey is continuously challenging herself with each subject choice. She loves shadows which define the subject and water scenes showing movement within the painting.

Her motto is; “I love sharing my views…one canvas at a time!”
